Is Muay Thai good for getting in shape?
Yes, Muay Thai is an excellent form of exercise for getting in shape. It involves a combination of cardio, strength, and endurance training that can help you build lean muscle, lose weight, improve your balance, coordination, and agility, and increase your overall physical fitness.
Can I train with my kids?
Depending on their age And maturity, they may be able to attend adult classes. Otherwise, Saturdays are Family Muay Thai which is fun for everyone! We also offer family personal training!
What does “Muay” mean in Thai?
“Muay” means “boxing” in Thai. So “Muay Thai” literally translates to “Thai Boxing.” It’s Thailand’s national sport and one of the oldest and most respected striking arts in the world, known as the “Art of Eight Limbs” because it uses punches, kicks, elbows, and knees.
Is Muay Thai the toughest martial art?
Muay Thai is widely respected for its intensity, full-contact nature, and real-world effectiveness — making it one of the toughest martial arts both mentally and physically. But it’s also extremely beginner friendly. At Sibai Muay Thai, we teach it in a safe, controlled, and supportive environment where anyone — kids, teens, or adults — can train at their own pace.
Is Muay Thai or Jiu-Jitsu better?
It depends on your goals. Muay Thai focuses on powerful striking and stand-up fighting, while Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) specializes in ground control and submissions. If you’re looking to build confidence, fitness, and learn effective self-defense while standing, Muay Thai is an excellent choice — especially for kids and beginners.
What’s the difference between Kickboxing and Muay Thai?
While both are striking-based martial arts, Muay Thai is more versatile. Kickboxing typically uses punches and kicks, but Muay Thai also includes elbows, knees, and clinching techniques. Muay Thai also has deeper roots in tradition and mental discipline. At Sibai Muay Thai, we focus on authentic technique passed down from elite Thai fighters.
Is Muay Thai safe for children?
Yes, when taught by qualified instructors like ours. Our kids’ programs are non-contact and focus on fitness, discipline, and fun. Every session is structured, age-appropriate, and designed to build confidence and coordination — not promote aggression.
What age should kids start Muay Thai?
Most kids can safely start learning Muay Thai around age 5. At this age, they’re developing the focus, motor skills, and discipline needed to benefit from structured martial arts training. Our camp is specifically designed for kids ages 5 to 13, with drills tailored to each age group’s ability and attention span.
Is Muay Thai suitable for kids?
Absolutely — when taught correctly. At Sibai Muay Thai, we teach kids non-contact Muay Thai that focuses on fitness, coordination, discipline, and self-defense — not fighting. It’s one of the best ways to build confidence, respect, and focus in a fun and safe environment.
What is the youngest age for summer camp?
Our Muay Thai summer camp is open to kids as young as 5 years old. We structure each group by age and skill level, so even the youngest campers feel included, safe, and capable. No prior experience is needed — just energy and a willingness to try.
Is a Muay Thai camp worth it?
Yes — for both the child and the parent. Kids don’t just burn energy and stay active — they learn real-life skills like discipline, resilience, focus, and confidence. Parents love that it’s safe, structured, and screen-free. At $200/week with flexible signup and discounts, it’s also one of the best-value camps in the area.
